The Celtics controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 10-point lead in the first quarter and extending it to 20 points by halftime. The Heat managed to close the gap to 11 points in the third quarter, but the Celtics quickly regained control and cruised to victory.
The Celtics were particularly impressive on the defensive end, holding the Heat to just 43% shooting from the field. They also forced 16 turnovers, which they converted into 24 points.
Game 2 of the series will be played in Boston on Tuesday. The Heat will need to find a way to improve their offensive output and limit the Celtics' turnovers if they want to even the series.
