Topsoe's Technology to Support Growing Demand for SAF

WEB Topsoe, a global leader in carbon emission reduction technologies, has signed an agreement with HOLBORN Europa Raffinerie GmbH (HOLBORN) to provide its HydroFlex™ technology for the conversion of HOLBORN's Hamburg, Germany refinery into a renewable fuels complex.

The HydroFlex™ technology will enable HOLBORN to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel, and renewable naphtha from various feedstocks, including vegetable oils, animal fats, and used cooking oil.

The production of renewable fuels at the Hamburg refinery is expected to serve the rapidly growing demand for SAF, which is seen as a key solution for reducing carbon emissions in the aviation sector. According to the International Energy Agency's Net Zero Scenario, over 10% of global jet fuel demand is expected to be met by SAF by 2050.
